Leigh Academies Trust is delighted to announce that Leigh Academy Rainham has been rated ‘Outstanding’ in 3 of the 4 categories following its first ever Ofsted inspection and ‘Good’ overall. This is a particularly exceptional accomplishment for a non-selective school in the Medway unitary authority. The school, which opened in September 2021, was praised for its “interesting and ambitious” curriculum, exemplary pupil behaviour, and strong focus on student welfare and personal development.
Ofsted inspectors highlighted that “The school has thought carefully about how it has designed the curriculum. It has ensured that pupils are taught interesting, relevant knowledge in each subject.”
Inspectors also noted the school’s effective support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), stating “The school supports the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) effectively.”
The report commended the school’s behaviour expectations, with inspectors observing that “Pupils’ behaviour is exemplary. The school sets out very clear, high expectations of how pupils should conduct themselves during lessons and around the school.”
Leigh Academy Rainham’s personal development provision was also singled out for praise: “The school has designed a personal development curriculum that truly enriches pupils’ wider experience. It makes sure that disadvantaged pupils, including those with SEND, benefit greatly from the programme.”
