LAT Primary Academies Swimming Gala – Tuesday 21st November 2023

The Annual LAT Primary Academies Swimming Gala took place on Tuesday 21st November at Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School.

All fifteen primaries participated and for the first time we welcomed Bearsted Primary Academy’s Year 5 cohort to a primary event.  It was also a pleasure to have Milestone Academy attend and participate in several activities, proving that, primarily, the objective of the event was to enjoy the day.

Teams competed in three heats in the following events:

  •  freestyle
  •  backstroke
  •  relay

For each heat, the two fastest swimmers in each heat gained a place in the final which were all very competitively contested.

Dartford Primary Academy and Hundred of Hoo Primary Academy received the same points however Dartford Primary Academy achieved second place on countback, with huge congratulations going to Hartley Primary Academy for being the clear overall winners.

LAT Secondary Academies Swimming Gala – Tuesday 28th November 2023

On Tuesday 28th November the annual Leigh Academies Trust secondary swimming gala took place at Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School. The individual and relay competition, for pupils in Years 8 and 9, is now a regular in the calendar and highlights how many talented swimmers we are fortunate to have within the Trust. The races produced some thrillingly close finishes making excellent viewing for the spectators. Yet again, the pupils were outstanding representatives of their schools and congratulations to the eventual winners Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School, silver position was Stationers Crown Woods Academy and Leigh Academy Blackheath in 3rd.

An appreciative ‘thank you’ also to Simon Downes, his staff and students for helping to organise the events on the day, ensuring everything proceeded smoothly. Next year we are looking to include more races to further challenge our students.
