GCSE Results Day 2022

SIMON BEAMISH

Chief Executive Officer

After a pause of two years, pupils across Leigh Academies Trust received their GCSE results on the basis of national examinations today. There is a great deal to celebrate with nearly two-thirds of pupils achieving a grade 9-4 in English and maths on average across all of our academies and a record number in line with teacher assessed grades in 2021 achieving a grade 9-5 in both subjects.

This cohort of pupils has faced great uncertainty with courage. They emerge from the global pandemic stronger and more ready to face the future than they could have realised. They have been supported by all of our remarkable staff in ways to achieve goals that appeared impossible in the darkest moments of the last two years of study. History will capture the challenges faced by this generation; it is inspiring to share in their celebrations today.

We now look forward to most of these pupils rejoining one of our several post-16 centres to continue their studies from September.
