This year is the first since 2019 that students had the chance to sit a normal set of examinations. Those results have been received by students today and there is much to celebrate. Across the Trust, grades have improved across the board at a higher rate than nationally. In academic programmes such as A Levels and IB Diplomas, students have achieved an average of a C+ grade. In applied general programmes, the average grade is Distinction-. We are particularly pleased that this is the first year in which students within the Trust are receiving results for T Levels.

In any normal year these results would be exceptional, but this year students deserve even more praise. They are the ones who were due to sit their GCSE examinations in the year that the Covid pandemic first struck. They have had to endure enormous turmoil over the past two and a half years in the period up to receiving their results today. Their courage and tenacity, and that of the many members of staff who have supported them along the way, is inspirational.

This year has been especially competitive for university access as well. Despite that, the vast majority of students have achieved their preferred onward destination whether this is university, an apprenticeship or straight into employment. We wish them well as they leave us and move onto exciting next steps. We hope they will stay in touch and we look forward to hearing all about their much deserved future successes.
