Dear parents and carers

RE: further update on senior leadership appointments at Strood Academy.

I wrote to you last week about the appointment of a new Principal for Strood Academy starting after the Easter break. Mr Richardson is already working at Strood at least one day per week and is enjoying getting to know pupils and staff. I said I would write again with more news about how we are strengthening the Strood senior leadership team further once appointments had been made.

We have been successful in appointing two new Heads of College (Vice Principals) to replace Mr Simmons and Mr Knight who leave at the end of this term. We thank them for their work at Strood and wish them well for the future.

Replacing them will be Mr Chris Pleasant, currently Assistant Principal at Dane Court Grammar School in Broadstairs, and Mr Matthew Piggott, currently Assistant Principal at The Leigh Academy in Dartford. A full summary is included for your convenience underneath.

  • Principal: Mr Richardson
  • Head of Victory College (Vice Principal): Miss Lindsay
  • Head of Trafalgar College (Vice Principal): Mr Pleasant
  • Head of Hercules College (Vice Principal): Mr Piggott

Strood Academy is making strong progress since its “good” Ofsted inspection last academic year. We are anticipating positive outcomes for students at GCSE and Post-16 in the summer. New senior staff will be warmly welcomed by the Strood community and we look forward to them adding extra capacity for the benefit of our pupils and their families.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Beamish | Chief Executive
