Dear Parents/Carers,

In my last letter to you I explained that Mrs Anwar will be leaving Strood Academy at the end of this term after working for Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) for the last six years. Some of you may already know that Mrs Anwar will be going to work for Ofsted as one of His Majesty’s Inspectors. Our congratulations to her as she takes on this important new role along with our considerable thanks for all of her hard work at Strood and across the Trust.

Following a national recruitment search and two demanding days of interviews which took place at the end of the last module, we are delighted to announce that Mr Jon Richardson has been appointed as Principal at Strood Academy starting straight after the Easter break. Mr Richardson is an experienced and successful school leader and is currently Senior Vice Principal at one of the largest schools in the region.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Richardson said:

“Strood Academy places your child’s academic success at its heart. To lead the excellent work of Strood staff, who provide your child with encouragement and opportunities every day, fills me with great excitement and is a huge honour. My vision of an exceptional school is achieved by high expectations and aspirations for all, excellent teaching and exemplary engagement in learning. I look forward to working with you as we embark on the next stage of this journey together.”

Mr Richardson’s induction to his new role has begun immediately and will be accelerated over the course of the next few weeks to ensure a smooth handover with Mrs Anwar so that no momentum is lost. He looks forward to working closely with staff and pupils and once in post he intends to write to parents to introduce himself and his plans for the future.

We will shortly be making extra appointments to strengthen the Strood team further and will write to you in due course with more details. Meanwhile, thank you for your ongoing support.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Beamish
Chief Executive
