Strood Academy joined Leigh Academies Trust on 1st January 2017 in an excellent

new partnership for children and families across Medway.

Strood Academy is a large and thriving secondary school of around 1,500 pupils on the

western fringes of Medway. It is heavily over-subscribed and enjoys magnificent new multi-
million pound buildings. The Academy is currently rated good by Ofsted and is ambitious

to shape young people’s lives for the better and help transform communities across


Leigh Academies Trust is a partnership of sixteen schools in Kent, Medway, Bexley and

Greenwich. It has more than 10,000 pupils from ages 2 to 19 and was recently recognised

by Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Schools as one of the seven top multi-academy trusts


Kim Gunn, Principal of Strood Academy, said:
