Leigh Academies Trust to support King Henry School, Bexley

We are delighted to confirm that Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) has agreed to support King Henry School (KHS) following a turbulent period in the aftermath of the pandemic. Work is already underway to stabilise the academy given the impact of Covid and the recent departure of its headteacher.

LAT is one of the largest and most successful multi-academy trusts in the region with 31 academies in Kent, Medway, Bexley and Greenwich. It has the capacity to provide significant and immediate support in all areas required so that KHS can enjoy the benefits of being part of a wide local educational network.

At the same time, LAT is embarking on due diligence to consider whether KHS should transfer to the Trust formally from early-2023. It is working closely with The Odyssey Trust for Education, the Department for Education and Bexley Council to consider all relevant information carefully and will make a decision in due course.

Meanwhile, our top priority is delivering on the improvement areas identified by the recent Ofsted inspection to ensure an excellent standard of education for pupils at KHS. We will keep all stakeholders regularly updated about progress over the coming months.
