Chief Executive Officer
Congratulations to all of our year 11 students receiving GCSE results today. Following exceptionally robust quality assurance processes across all of our academies to ensure that every grade awarded was backed up by secure evidence against published grade criteria, all students can celebrate their outcomes and feel rightly proud of their achievements; they are richly deserved.
To get to this point, this generation of students have had to endure the most terrible disruption to their studies imaginable. Our year 11s have already faced one-tenth of their young lives under some kind of Covid restrictions; most of their key stage 4 learning has been undertaken during the pandemic. The fact that so many of them have so much to celebrate today given the uncertainties they have faced, is a great joy to us all.
As well as congratulating our wonderful students, very considerable thanks should also be enjoyed by our staff. Even during lockdowns when students could not attend our academy buildings, they have kept all of the high quality learning and support going via our excellent systems for delivering virtual schooling. Today proves that all of their superb efforts have made sure that our students have not missed out and are set up well for the future when hopefully Covid will not be such a prominent feature of our daily lives.
We now look forward to the start of the new academic year when year 11s will rejoin one of our various sixth form centres and we can bring back more of a normal way of operating that we were used to prior to the pandemic first taking off in March 2020. That said, we have also learnt much under lockdown and made some important changes so that actually we begin next year stronger than ever. This helps to set our students on a continued path to success so that they can all enjoy a bright and fulfilling future.
