Leigh academy Blackheath is now an IB World School

Leigh Academy Blackheath is tremendously proud to announce that we are now an IB World School.
Our alignment to the International Baccalaureates’ ethos and philosophy dates back to before the opening of our academy in 2018, with plans to create a school that would serve the community and to develop young people who would understand their identity and their place in the world.
In April this year, two consultants from the programme visited us, albeit virtually. They had the opportunity to meet teachers, support staff, parents and carers, and students and governors. Throughout the two days of the visit, they were able to hear and feel our commitment to foster collaboration, to develop character and to work closely with our community.
In the written report, we were commended for promoting international mindedness alongside the attributes of the Learner Profile; as such, the IB recognised “that students express themselves openly and respectfully” in our academy.
At LAB we take pride in our inclusive education, which the IB commended as “an inclusive programme with policies and practices that effectively support students with special educational needs.”
All members of staff at LAB work extremely hard to ensure our students have access to a high quality education in a setting where adults care for them and their future, and said recognition is yet another reminder of how special Leigh Academy Blackheath is.
