Badger class at Molehill Primary Academy were incredibly lucky enough to have a virtual visit from Sam Copeland, the author of the book, ‘Charlie Changes Into a Chicken’.  During his visit, Sam read some of his new book and answered questions. The book was hugely popular with the children and it started many conversations about what happens when we feel anxious and how we calm ourselves down.

The children welcomed Sam into their Google Classroom and not only listened to him read, they had some great questions for him too. He read part of his new book ‘Uma and the Answer to Absolutely Everything’. Afterwards the children had a great many questions about being an author and about his books. Firstly, they needed to know why Charlie doesn’t actually turn into a chicken! He also shared with Badger class how much he loves being an author because he gets to meet lots of people and share his stories with children. He wanted to write books that cheer children up and make them laugh. It certainly sounds like his new book is going to do just that.

Perhaps the most inspiring comment from Sam was that “the more you read, the happier you are”. Badger Class are certainly inspired to read more as a class and at home and they cannot wait to start reading ‘Uma and the Answer to Absolutely Everything’ together next term.
