The Halley Academy was proud to present Halley’s Got Talent organised by the academy’s proactive Prom Committee.
The committee is made up of Yr11 students with an additional three sixth form students who are sharing their expertise from last year. The aim of HGT was to raise money for their prom in July. Earlier this year the committee held open auditions and chose eight final contestants from Yr7-Yr11. The final acts consisted of dance, singers, comedy, music and an afro beats rapper. There were even special guest appearances featuring last year’s winner, singer Hannah, The Halley’s very own successful and popular grime artist, Romzy and a local afro beats rapper who has been on Britain’s Got Talent! The special guest performances were all brilliant and added a professional flare to the evening.
The event was overseen by The Halley’s glamorous compere and Community Director Ms Taylor who gave each contestant a supportive shoulder when they received their feedback and overview from the judges. The judges were made up of two staff members and a sixth form music student. Emotions were running high and there were plenty of nerves but the contestants gave it their all and they were a pleasure to see. There was a full house and a fun positive vibe within the audience who were very supportive.
The prom committee raised an impressive £100 and they would like to say a big thank you to all staff and students who helped and went along to support the event.
Halley’s Got Talent was a huge success and the results were:
3rd place – Frankie in Yr7 (singer)
2nd place – Faith in Yr10 (singer)
1st place – Nathaniel in Yr11 (rapper)
Students will have the chance to see the winner at the next whole academy assembly.
