Simon Beamish, Chief Executive was delighted to attend the grand opening of Tree Tops Primary Academy’s brand new library last week along with Richard Dodd, a local children’s author who made a special guest appearance.
Staff and pupils were thrilled to have been supported to create a wonderful space for reading. The children are passionate about stories and research and the library will give them the opportunity to give even more focus to reading in school. This will have a big impact on the children’s skills and confidence across the whole curriculum.
The School Council are now going to be leading interviews to recruit librarians who will look after the books and support others, and the library will be open after school to parents, and to local nurseries to encourage more reading at home, and a real love of books for the whole family.
At the opening, the children were excited to present the Roald Dahl themed room; where each class had taken inspiration from a book to create models, artwork and writing from their favourite stories. However, the most enthusiastic response came from Mr Beamish when he listened to Connie and Leland, commenting on their eagerness to read and their technical skills.
