On Monday 10th July all secondary academies within Leigh Academies Trust attended Dartford Harriers Athletics Ground to compete for the sought after ‘Leigh Academies Trust Sports Day Trophy’.
Due to the increase in size of the Trust, each academy competed rather than the traditional individual colleges. Regardless of the change, the day retained its high levels of competition, enthusiasm for each event and outstanding performances across each year group.
With over 500 students competing on the day, each academy performed to a very high standard.
Medals were awarded by former Leigh Academy student and current GB athlete Megan Edwards, who was an inspiration to all the students taking part. The relay races provided the most excitement with some seamless baton changeovers that even the GB team would have been proud of. As the races came to an end, participants and spectators waited with anticipation to hear the final results.
The overall winner of the LAT Sports Day 2017 was The Leigh Academy!
