We have pleasure in announcing the appointment of Emma Smith, currently Deputy Principal at Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy (SCWA), as Principal Designate for Leigh Academy Blackheath, Leigh Academies Trust’s brand new secondary school for Greenwich, opening to year 7 pupils in 2018.
Emma has already worked in roles at four LAT academies including senior positions at Wilmington Academy, Longfield Academy and now SCWA. Her dedication to LAT values and to this project is without question. Since LAT was approved to open this free school in spring 2015, Emma has worked tirelessly as Project Manager and will now transition into the Principal Designate role as we market the school to parents, pupils and staff. She will work closely with the senior team at SCWA, sister academy to Leigh Academy Blackheath and Greenwich’s most over-suscribed secondary school.
Leigh Academy Blackheath will open at a temporary site on Shooter’s Hill in September 2018 before moving into new facilities on Old Dover Road in 2020/21. It will become LAT’s 17th school and provide more high-quality school places to Greenwich children.
