Wilmington Academy launched its 2017/18 business mentoring scheme with a Rise and Shine business breakfast on Wednesday 21st June. Supported by three of the academy’s existing mentors, potential new mentors were able to hear first hand how the scheme works and what the very real rewards are in becoming a mentor. Additionally participants heard testimony from students on the value of being a mentee as well as having the opportunity to tour the academy.
As part of cross Trust working, delegates from Strood Academy, the latest academy to join Leigh Academies Trust also attended to hear more from those with a hands on knowledge of business mentoring in preparation for launching their own scheme in September. A further delegate, a governor from fellow Trust Academy, Mascalls, was highly impressed with what he saw. Mascalls Academy launch their new business mentoring scheme in July.
We very much look forward to the forthcoming mentor training at Wilmington Academy which will be on July 7th with mentors and mentees meeting for the first time in September.
Commitment from new mentors is already high and we look forward to a continued growth of the scheme to benefit pupils at Wilmington Academy.
