Year 13 students at The Leigh Academy who are looking to enter into employment or an apprenticeship when they leave this summer took part in a number of activities to hone their CV understanding and application.
Facilitated by Daniel Goodwin of Pearson Whiffin Recruitment, students first took part in an interactive workshop where working in small groups, they examined a number of mock CVs exploring the positive and negative aspects of each.
Then, over two further sessions, students explored their own CVs in relation to what they had just learnt. Taking the opportunity of one to one advice from Daniel, they then went onto update and refine their own.
As a next step, the same group of students will take part in mock interviews in March.
Many thanks to Daniel for his expert advice.
Post event, student comments were as follows:
“That was so useful.”
“Dan gave me some really good ideas.”
“This has really helped. I have had no idea what career to go into but Dan advised me to get a job that will develop my skills, instead of trying to find a sector to work in. I feel far less anxious about seeking employment now that I know that!”
“My CV looks so much stronger and far more professional now.”
