Leigh Academies Trust is delighted to formally open its newest academy, Cherry Orchard Primary Academy.
At the open ceremony, held at the academy, on Friday 29th September, Mr Roger Gough, Cabinet member for Children, Young People and Education, planted a cherry tree in front of the children of the academy, members of the local community and businesses responsible for the design and construction of the academy. Prior the opening ceremony, children from all years within the academy had entertained visitors with several songs they had learnt during the preceding three weeks.
Cherry Orchard Primary Academy, the sixteenth academy within the Trust, is currently admitting children in Years R, 1 and 2, as well as an associated nursery. It will expand in future years to admit up to 60 pupils per year up to the age of 11. The academy is being led by Julie Forsythe, previously Associate Principal at Dartford Primary Academy, and Karen Major as Executive Principal across both Cherry Orchard and Dartford Primary Academies.
