The inaugural LAT Primary Sports Day was held on Friday 14th July at Dartford Harriers, celebrating our talented athletes within primary academies; an event which showcased the core values of the Trust of strong collaboration and teamwork. Dartford, Eastcote, Hartley, Molehill, Oaks and Tree Tops Primary Academies all attended with some of the children having the opportunity to show off for the first time their talents on a ‘real’ running track.
One hundred and twenty Year 5 and Year 6 students from across six Primary Academies participated in a range of track and field events throughout the day. It was so encouraging to see each academy work together so well supporting their own teams and also those from other academies; with lots of cheering each other on, a true demonstration of friendly and healthy competition taking place.
All children received a medal, presented by Mr Beamish and Mr Willis, for representing their academy at this event and Hartley Primary Academy took the ultimate accolade of 1st place overall in the event.

The day was a great success, an excellent event, enjoyed by all the children who not only demonstrated such grit and resilience to achieve their best but enjoyed the whole experience alongside their supporting adults who shared the day with them.
The success of the day was down to the hard work of Julie Palmer from Oaks Primary Academy, who worked tirelessly for months planning and organising this first ever event with the support of Lisa Fewell from Hartley Primary Academy. On the day Adam Burgess from Sportshall Associates supported the organisation of events and sports leaders from the Leigh Academy also supported throughout the day; such excellent role models!
This is the first of, what will become, an annual event giving opportunities for our Primary sporting pupils to aspire to represent their academies in promoting excellence on track and field.
