LAT academies win Kent Literacy Awards

We are very proud to announce that two of LAT’s academies have won Kent Literacy Awards.

Wilmington Academy are award winners for the third year in a row, on this occasion for its World Book Week Sci-Fi Book Convention.  Congratulations to Miss Marken and Mrs Kennedy for their limitless passion, creativity and commitment to the development of students’ literacy skills at Wilmington and to all of the staff for their support.

The Leigh Academy won the Kent Literacy Award for ‘Most Immersive Book Week’ in recognition of its ‘Harry Potter at The Leigh’ event in module 4. Mr. Burton, Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Dunne went to collect the award at Hempstead House, Sittingbourne on Wednesday 21st June 2017.

Nominations were accepted from parents, pupils and staff. The awards recognise and showcase initiatives that develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

We are very proud of this recognition and we hope to raise the profile of literacy even more in the new academic year.
