As part of the Level 3 BTEC sixth form sports students’ coursework they were tasked with organising and running an event. This led to the Primary School Athletics being arranged and run over 3 days. Four local primary schools attended each day and over 300 year five students had a day of fun.
Over 60 sixth-formers acted as leaders over the three days, officiating and looking after the individual schools. Cross curriculum collaboration was evident with students from photography and health and social care helping out as part of their own coursework.
The events included: Speed Bounce, Javelin, sprinting, chest push, noughts and crosses, bullseye, and an obstacle relay race. The primary school teachers and year five students had a fantastic time and passed on some excellent comments.
“Just wanted to say a huge thank you for today, the kids really loved it! It was nice to have something the whole class could get involved in. The organisation was brilliant and the sixth formers were an absolute credit to the school, really great with the kids, polite and friendly! Please pass on all our thanks to all those involved” (All Faiths)
