On Friday 25th November, Strood Academy were extremely fortunate to receive a visit from Tracey Crouch, the Conservative Minister for Sport and MP for Chatham and Aylesford.
Tracey delivered an assembly to Year 10, 11 and Sixth form girls about female participation and ambition, in relation to career aspirations and sporting pursuits. She shared her experiences of pursuing a career in politics and her own sporting interests and successes. The discussion was extremely inspirational and the girls have gained new impetus from the assembly.
To conclude, Tracey completed the Strood Academy rowing challenge to demonstrate resilience and participation, as she raced against some of the female students – Florence Thompson, Caitlin Lamb, Leona Robinson and Mrs Thornton, Pastoral Manager for Trafalgar.
Strood Academy will join Leigh Academies Trust from 1st January 2017 in an excellent new partnership for children and families across Medway. For further information on this exciting news, please see the attached press release. strood-press-release-dec-16-1
