Careers day at Longfield Academy

On Tuesday 12th July, year 12 students at Longfield Academy took part in a full day of presentations, advice and mock interviews to prepare them for their futures. These included a “Dress to Impress at Interviews” workshop by Deborah Turner of You Image Consultancy, mock interviews for positions in administration, local authority, the Kent police and engineering as well as an inspirational presentation by Barnaby Wynter of the Brand Bucket Company. Interviews were ably conducted by representatives from the Police, Adgistics, Congreve Recruitment, The Leigh Academies Trust and The Partnership.

During the round up of the day, all interviewees gave a positive response upon the benefits of both the interview process and useful feedback that they each received. Students very much took on board the messages given by both Deborah and Barnaby of making themselves stand out in a positive manner.

Students wanting to go to university next year also had the chance to start their UCAS applications. Under the guidance of our own very experienced staff over 40 students logged on and made amazing progress. They were able to discuss their own personal course choices, which universities might suit them and how to start their personal statements. They have time over the summer to continue their research before completing in the autumn. A great start by all of them.

Sincere thanks to all our staff and guests for making this a useful and memorable day for our students.
