Literacy projects win awards for Wilmington Academy and Milestone Academy

Wilmington Academy and Milestone Academy have been featured in the press for their award-winning literacy projects.

On Tuesday 21st June, Wilmington Academy was represented at the Kent Literacy Awards at Hampstead House Hotel in Sittingbourne. This was the academy’s second year attending the ceremony, after winning the District Award for Best Book Week Theme last year for the Hunger Games Festival.

Head of Apollo Pete Devlin, Director of Literacy Nadia Marken, and Librarian Debbie Kennedy were there to receive the Dartford Area Award for Best Book Week Theme for the Tri-Wizard Tournament that ran at the academy for World Book Day 2016.

Despite there being over 27 District winners, Wilmington Academy was further rewarded with the Kent Literacy Book Week Champion Award. Thank you to all members of our academy community who voted for the Tri-Wizard Tournament and we can’t wait to see what exciting festival will happen next year for World Book Day.
