“I was delighted when Hartley Primary Academy asked if I could talk to Key Stage2 about engineering and our record-breaking electric motorcycles. As a business involved in engineering I know how much we need children to consider STEM careers, so an invitation from such forward-thinking schools is always a pleasure. It’s important for industry and education to collaborate and give students a flavour of their career choices, and the pupils at Hartley Primary Academy were certainly enthusiastic about our work.
The level of questions was extremely high. I didn’t, for example, expect a pupil in year 3 to ask me to explain how we recharge the electric motor, nor a year 6 student to ask “what’s been your biggest disappointment?” – what a searching question from a young mind. I thoroughly enjoyed the morning working with a polite and attentive group of students, and I look forward to visiting them again.”
