Inaugural Principal Appointed for Langley Park Primary Academy, Maidstone

Leigh Academies Trust will open Langley Park Primary Academy (LPPA) in September 2016 in brand-new accommodation. LPPA is being developed under ‘Basic Need’ in conjunction with Kent County Council and will be a two-form entry primary academy for South Maidstone, with its own nursery and special needs centre. LPPA will be at the heart of a new community of one thousand new homes and will enjoy state-of-the-art buildings and a generous green site. In the first year of opening, LPPA will admit children into its nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of LPPA’s inaugural Principal. It is quite a privilege to open a brand-new school; few school leaders have such an opportunity across their whole career. The successful candidate is Libby Fidock, currently Principal of Tree Tops Primary Academy. Libby’s leadership credentials are beyond question. She is the first Principal in more than a decade to have been responsible for securing a sound Ofsted judgement for Tree Tops. As a result of her exceptional hard work and inspirational leadership, Tree Tops was removed from special measures in March last year, with a leadership judgement of ‘good’. Based on current academic forecasts, Tree Tops will be securely ‘good’ overall by the end of this academic year.

Libby is already working hard with Executive Principal, Debbie Biggenden, to ensure the recruitment of students and the selection of a strong staff team. Libby’s appointment is yet another example of LAT’s on-going commitment to promote and retain its very best staff. Libby will leave behind an Academy in a much better position than when she found it and a strong legacy of school improvement. The team she has built will now take the Academy to new heights. She can rightly be proud of what she and her team have achieved. Over the next month we will be busy appointing Libby’s successor to become Head of Academy at Tree Tops and to lead the Academy towards its deserved ‘outstanding’ status.
