Appointment of Executive Principal for Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy

Following a successful interview process, I am delighted to announce that Mr David Millar has been appointed as the new Executive Principal of Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy (SCWA) following the retirement of Mr Michael Murphy from August 2016.

Mr Millar has held two headships already in London and Kent with the most recent being Executive Principal within Oasis Community Learning. His appointment was made by the unanimous verdict of academy governors and representatives from Leigh Academies Trust.

Mr Millar’s appointment secures the continued progress of Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy. It is our strong belief that SCWA is already on a clear pathway to become an ‘Outstanding’ school. The challenge now is to sustain and extend its existing very high level of performance. Mr Millar’s strong track record and significant leadership experience provides him with the knowledge, skills and expertise required to undertake his new role effectively. We very much look forward to him joining us in September.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Millar said:

“I am delighted to have been appointed to this prestigious role. I look forward to working with the students, parents, staff and community at SCWA, and to building on the sustained progress and transformative work of Michael Murphy and his team. I am committed to providing outstanding, inclusive education and know that as a member of Leigh Academies Trust, with close partnership with The Stationers’ Company, we will deliver this for our students.”

Governors and the Trust would also like to pay tribute and convey their very considerable thanks for the enormous impact made by Mr Murphy in his long period in charge of SCWA. He will be a very tough act to follow and sorely missed. We wish him all the very best of health and happiness in retirement.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Beamish
Chief Executive
