Students recall their amazing experiences of their work experience at international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer:
Completing work experience at Freshfields was a wonderful opportunity, especially as it is part of the ‘Magic Circle’ of law firms in Britain. We worked with a group other students from around the country and our main investigation was based on the topic of bribery within companies. I gained a lot of knowledge through the several talks we had about the world of Freshfields. It was extremely beneficial to meet various solicitors and find out how they came about studying law. Since I’d like to become a lawyer, this experience helped me potentially narrow down my options to specific areas within law itself.
International Business Law has always been an area of interest to me as I am intrigued to see how cultures from different countries integrate and how this is then works within law. I was really interested in work experience at Freshfields and gained invaluable first hand experiences, learning how cultures and language barriers are overcome. What was most interesting for me was to finally be able to experience the career which I have been aspiring to for a long time. To come into contact with the everyday life of a lawyer, I was able to not only learn what skills the role requires but also the reality of such a prestigious job. I was also able to obtain advice very specific to the field; one of which was how to get the most work experience possible!
